These terms cover your use of PrivateMed, a local-first personal health-records application that runs on your own device. By using PrivateMed, you agree to them.

1.What PrivateMed is

PrivateMed is software you run on your own computer to organize your personal health records. It reads documents you provide, extracts and structures health information from them, records where each fact came from, and produces reports you can use — including notes on what you may wish to raise with a healthcare professional.

2.Not a medical device or medical advice

PrivateMed does not practice medicine. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decisions. Anything it surfaces — including suggested topics for a doctor's visit — is informational and organizational only. It is your responsibility to consult a qualified, licensed healthcare professional for any medical question, and to rely on their judgment rather than on software.

PrivateMed helps you prepare for care. It does not stand in for it. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in PrivateMed.

3.Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the documents you add, for reviewing the information PrivateMed extracts, and for how you use its reports. Automated extraction can make mistakes — a value can be misread, a date misattributed. You should verify anything important against the original source document, which PrivateMed always keeps linked for exactly this reason.

4.Your data and your device

PrivateMed stores your records on your own device. You are responsible for the security of that device and for backing up your data as you see fit. Because your data does not reside on a server we operate, we cannot recover, restore, or access it for you.

5.Connected services

If you connect a third-party service (such as a wearable) to import data, you are responsible for complying with that service's own terms, and your use of it is governed by that provider's agreements and privacy policy. PrivateMed reads the data you authorize onto your device and does not control the provider.

6.Acceptable use

Use PrivateMed for your own personal health records and lawful purposes. Do not use it to process data you have no right to, to reverse-engineer or misuse the software in violation of its license, or in any way that breaks applicable law.

7.Warranty disclaimer

PrivateMed is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. We do not warrant that extraction will be error-free or that the software will meet every need.

8.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PrivateMed and its makers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any medical outcome, arising from your use of or inability to use the software. Your health decisions rest with you and your healthcare providers.

9.Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version, with its date, will always be posted here. Continuing to use PrivateMed after a change means you accept the updated terms.
